Included in a multi film deal between Blumhouse and Lionsgate the 1999 Blair Witch Project will be back again with the original producer, Roy Lee.
The deal was announced by Adam Fogelson, Lionsgate film chair and Jason Blum, CEO of Blumhouse.
‘I have been incredibly fortunate to work with Jason many times over the years. We forged a strong relationship on The Purge when I was at Universal, and we launched STX with his film The Gift. There is no one better at this genre than the team at Blumhouse,’ said Fogelson to The Hollywood reporter. ‘We are thrilled to kick this partnership off with a new vision for Blair Witch that will reintroduce this horror classic for a new generation.’
Blumhouse productions was founded in 2000 by Jason Blum and has reached far from their low budget founding days to find success with the Paranornal Activity franchise from 2007. Rounding out the 2020s with Get Out and M3GAN under their banner we can only wait in the trees with snotty noses until the Blair Witch comes at us again.
